Deputy General Manager – McLarens on the Corner
Salary: Up to £37.5k plus TRONC and Quarterly Bonus
McLarens on the Corner is entering an exciting new phase.
With sales up over +30% year-to-date, the opportunity here is huge. We're looking for a Deputy General Manager who can support the General Manager in turning that momentum into long-term, sustainable success.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their leadership career, playing a key role in developing the team, maintaining exceptional standards, and helping shape the future of one of Edinburgh's most loved neighbourhood venues.
This isn't simply about supporting the day-to-day operation. It's about being a trusted second-in-command who leads from the front, develops people, solves problems, and helps deliver consistently brilliant guest experiences.
The Role:
Supporting the General Manager
Your primary responsibility will be supporting the General Manager in delivering every aspect of the business.
You'll be a reliable, proactive leader who helps drive performance, implements initiatives, takes ownership of key projects, and ensures the venue operates at the highest standard, even in the General Manager's absence.
Leadership & Team Development
You'll help recruit, coach and develop a team that people want to be part of.
Leading by example, you'll create a positive, high-performance culture where standards are clear, energy is high, and people are proud of what they do.
You'll be visible on the floor, providing coaching in the moment and ensuring every shift is well organised and professionally led.
Operational Excellence
You'll work alongside the General Manager to deliver outstanding standards across the bar, kitchen and floor.
From opening to close, you'll ensure service is consistent, quality remains high, and operational procedures are followed every day.
Guest Experience & Community
McLarens has always been a venue at the heart of its local community.
You'll help create memorable experiences by building relationships with regular guests, leading exceptional service, and ensuring every customer leaves wanting to return.
Commercial Awareness
Working closely with the General Manager, you'll help drive revenue, control costs and maximise profitability.
You'll understand the importance of labour management, stock control, waste reduction and delivering strong financial performance without compromising the guest experience.
Standards, Compliance & Safety
You'll ensure the venue operates safely, legally and consistently, maintaining high standards across health & safety, food safety, licensing and company procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Deputy General Manager, Assistant General Manager or experienced Duty Manager in a high-volume hospitality business.
- Someone ready to step up and take ownership while supporting an ambitious General Manager.
- A natural leader who can motivate, coach and develop others.
- Excellent operational knowledge across bar, kitchen and floor.
- Calm under pressure with the confidence to make decisions and solve problems.
- A warm, approachable personality that builds relationships with both guests and team members.
- Commercial awareness with a good understanding of labour, stock and financial performance.
- Someone who leads by example and takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards.
- Ambitious, driven and eager to continue developing towards a future General Manager position.
Why McLarens?
Because it matters.
This is a venue with real character, a loyal local following and exciting momentum. You'll work alongside an experienced General Manager, helping shape the next chapter of the business while developing your own leadership skills within one of Scotland's leading hospitality groups.
